WORDSWORTH’S VIEWS OF POETRY AND THE POET

Subject matter of poetry          poetry should deal with incidents and situation from common life, situations germinated from elementary feelings that people can easily comprehend;

The language of poetry             poetry should use familiar expression of normal life, but the poet has to uses it “in an unusual way”, using his/her imagination to made his text interesting and original, to catch reader’s attention;

The poet’s identity                     the poet is a man speaking to other man who has an higher level of sensibility, enthusiasm and tenderness, “a man pleased with his own passion”. He/she is a person who has got more qualities of common people and use it to create poems;

The creative act of the poet      the creative process starts from an emotion which is powerful and spontaneous, it grows by a simple fact that catch the poet attention at one’s moment. After it the poet, remembering that fact, elaborates it in his/her mind and, only at the end, he/she writes the poem down.
