On Tuesday morning at about 10.15 a.m., a car was travelling north on the main road through Kimberton. It was travelling at approximately 30 miles per hour. When it reached the Stop sign at the crossroad, it stopped. No other cars were coming in any direction, so the car started again and turned right. As it was turning, a lorry travelling faster arrived behind it. The driver looked in his mirror and realised the lorry was moving faster, so he accelerated. While he was accelerating, a cyclist came out of a private gate and forgot to look at the road. The car hit the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet and was not hurt. The lorry, which was going too fast, hit the back of the car. The vehicles were damaged, but luckly there were no causalties.

J- Did I ever tell you the stiry about when I went into the wrong house?

D- No, when did that happen?

J- Last winter. I was staying with my sister for a few days. I was having my house redecorated, and it was chaos.

D- I can imagine - paint everywhere.

J- That's right. So I was using my sister's spare bedroom, and I was going to work every day by bus from her house.

D- were you using your car?

J- No, I wasn't: it's very difficult to park in that part of town, so I was using public transport.

D- And what about the wrong house?

J- Well, I had the keys to my sister's house. She works late, so to help her I was preparing the dinner evry evening. One evening I went to the supermarket after work, then took the bus home: I was really tired.

D- And you stpped on the wrong floor!

J- That's right! I was thinking so much I forgot the floor. So there I was opening the door to my sister's flat and suddently I was in a hallway I didn't know. I was shocked.

D- And the people who lived there?

J- They were very shocked too. But they thought it was really funny, so they invited me for a coffee.

D- That's an interesting way to get a free coffee.
