On Tuesday morning at about 10.15 a.m., a car was travelling north on the main road through Klimberton. It was travelling at approximately 30 miles per hour. When it reached the Stop sign at the crossroads, it stopped. No other cars were coming in any directions, so the car started again and turned right. As it was turning, a lorry travelling faster arrived behind it. The driver looked in his mirror and realized the lorry was moving faster, so he accelerated. While he was accelerating, a cyclist came out of a private gate and forgot to look at the road. The car hit the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet and was no hurt. The lorry, which was going too fast, hit the back of the car. The vehicles were damaged, but luckily there were no casualties.

 - Did I ever tell you the story about when I went into the wrong house?

 - No, when did that happen?

 - Last winter. I was staying with my sister for a few days. I was having my house redecorated, and it was a chaos.

 - I can imagine - paint everywhere.

 - That's right. So I was using my sister's spare bedroom, and I was going to work every day by bus from her house.

 - Weren't you using your car?

 - No, I wasn't: it's very difficult to park in that part of town, so I was using public transport.

 - And what about the wrong house?

 - Well I had the keys to my sister's house. She works late, so to help her I was making the dinner every evening. One evening I went to the supermarket after work, then took the bus home: I was really tired.

 - And it was probably raining and cold.

 - Yes, it was. So I arrived home. My sister lives in a block of flats with no lift. As I was climbing the stairs I was thinking about what to cook.

 - And you stopped on the wrong floor!

 - That's right! I was thinking so much I forgot the floor. So there I was, opened the door to my sister's flat and suddenly I was in a hallway I didn't know. I was shocked.

 - And the people who lived there?

 - They were very shocked too. But they thought it was really funny, so they invited me for a coffee.

 - That's an interesting way to get a free coffee.

A quel tempo Jack stava lavorando e studiando.

L'anno scorso, quando stava guidando in giro per l'Europa, ha avuto un brutto incidente.

Stavo pranzando quando è squillato il telefono.
