AT THE GROCER'S
Mrs. Ford looked at the shopping list, and asked the grocer for some butter, some cheese and a packet of biscuits. He gave the woman the goods and asked her if she wanted something else. She answered she wanted also some flour, some sugar and tea. The grocer put the flour, the sugar and tea on the counter, and asked Mrs. Ford whether she needed something else again. She remember buying a tomato soup tin, and noted some tins on the shelf. She asked the grocer if they were tomato soup ones. But he informed Mrs. Ford they were tomato tins, and so the woman didn't buy nothing else. Finally, she asked if her shopping could be sent to her house. The salesman nodded to her, but she told him that she would carry the eggs home herself. Therefore, the grocer wanted to know why the eggs couldn't be delivered. Mrs. Ford replied saying that the new delivery boy was very careless, and the last time he had dropped the eggs on her door mat.
AN AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER
I went to a photo studio and asked the salesman for having a film developed and its photos printed. He told me they would be ready for the following Tuesday, and so I gave him the roll. The Tuesday after I returned to the photo studio, and asked for the photo. The salesman gave me sadly the envelop with the photos inside. I opened it eagerly, but there were only eight photos inside. I got a surprise, and asked him why there were only eight photos out of thirty-six. He guessed that I had taken them and said I had let in too light in most photos. In addition, he told me the remaining eight photos weren't very successful, and expressed his regret. After that, I looked at them. Three of them were almost black, other three were almost white. In another one there was my sister without legs and in the last one a tree seemed to grow out of my brother's hand.
