ALLITERATIONS
The text is full of alliterations, especially vowel sounds.
In the first line, there's an alliteration of the sound "w" ("was, when, meadow, grove"), which highlights the sense of temporal remoteness. The second alliteration regards the "e" sounds and is found in the third line; the irregular length of the sounds conveys a sense of naiveness, to underline the freshness of childhood and the muddled remembrance of the past.
The fifth line is enriched with "eh" sounds, in order to convey the feeling of happiness and vitality.
With the repetition of the letter "s" (11th line) the poet conveys a sense of silence. The same alliteration is also found in the 19th line.
In the 22nd stanza, the repetition of the "e" sound reminds the feeling of naive energy found in the 3rd line.
