The Rime of Ancient Mariner_ Denotative analysis

In  part IV of The Rime of Ancient Mariner the mariner's features scares the Wedding-Guest. He thinks   the old man is a ghost. The mariner assures him that he has not returned from the dead and he continues to tell his story.

The old man was alone on the ship surrounded by the bodies of his shipmates lying upon the rotting deck. His only living company were the slimy creatures in the rotting sea.

The marine tried to pray but he believed there was no hope for him because he thought there was a curse on him.

The man was  exhausted and he tried to have a little relief looking at the sky; he saw the moon that lightened  the sea- landscape with her beams.

The sailor was charmed by Nature's beauty and even the water- snakes appeared as  fascinating  creatures to him. The creatures were the only thing that cheered him up during his loneliness and he blessed them unaware.

Since that  moment the mariner found a little peace and tried to pray again: now the curse fell off, the spell was broken and he was free.
