Denotative level of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner- part IV

The wedding guest affirms to be scared by the ancient mariner because of his ghost aspect (“skinny hand” “long, and lank, and brown”, …). The mariner counters he is not returned by death but he is the only survivor of the story telling. He stay seven days alone between the body of his death shipmates that do “not rot not reek ” but they curse him. During those agony days he vainly search to pray. Only the beauty view of water snakes “within the shadow of the ship” distract the mariner and permits him to pray. In this moment  the Albatross “fell off, and sank live lead into the see”.
