The rime of the Ancient Mariner  (part IV)

DENOTATIVE ANALYSIS:

The part IV of the ballad starts with a dialogue between the wedding-guest and the Mariner, where the guest says to fear the old man, but he reassures him because he’s not dead. The Mariner was the only survivor in the ship and this is his curse. He killed the Albatross and for this reason he was forced to see the dead man for seven days and seven night without being able to pray.

One day when the old Mariner realized the beauty of living creature the curse cessed, and then the Albatross (seen as a symbol of the curse) fell off from his neck and sank in the sea.
