Denotative analysis of the part IV of the ballad, The rime of the Ancient Mariner
In this part the Wedding- Guest is frightened by the spirit of the mariner and for the story ,that he had told him, but he does not succeed to move away because he is captured by the mariner’s skinny hand and his glittering eye. The ancient mariner assures him of his bodily life, and proceeds to relate his horrible penance. He passed seven days and seven nights of agony seeing the dead at his feet and trying to pray so that the curse ends but he could not. In the end by the light of the moon he saw water- snakes. These creatures represents a bless for his heart and in that situation he succeed to pray and so the spell was broken.
