Part IV of the ballad The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Denotative analysis

The Wedding-Guest is scared by the Mariner: he is not sure if the sailor was alive or if he was a spirit. The Mariner assured him that unfortunately he was alive; afterwards he went on with his tale.
All The Mariner's shipmates died and only the Mariner survive. He could not find peace: he knew he was cursed for what he had done.
After seven days and seven nights of cursed solitude he saw some water-snakes. Their beauty struck him and he felt a feeling of love; he blessed them unaware. In that moment he could pray and the albatross fell of by his neck: the curse began to break.
