“Beowulf” is an epic poem that tells about the Anglo-Saxon society.

The main character of this story is Beowulf; he is the mightiest man on earth, a high-born and strong warrior that faces every challenge without being afraid. He is the leader of the Anglo-Saxon warriors and he also represents the values of the Anglo-Saxon society; this society was based on blood and honesty.

The settings that are quoted within the story are realistic; for example the swan’s road that had taken the name from an animal or cliffs and promontories of the coasts of Sweden and Denmark.

Finally there are many words that require the attention of the reader: for example “surf, sea, vessel, and boat”. From these words the reader can imagine that the Anglo-Saxons were travellers and in particular that they sailed a lot.
