Textuality » 3A Interacting
During the previous lessons we studied the steps to follow to read a text and to make sense of what makes language a literary language. We made the sense of the text while reading it.
Literature mixes varieties of language and requires readers to pay attention to the way language is used.
What you read in a poem is fiction, not truth. A text just depends on reality for its raw material, that is combined into a new portion of reality which exists only within the text. The reader is asked to ricreate this reality in his mind using evidence from the language of the text.
The poet is conscious that the reader is an active, dynamic collaborator during the making of the meaning of the text.
The meaning of a word changes according to the context.
There are so many meanings as the number of he readers provided that
the reader can support his interpretation on the text
his interpretation is consistent with the text.
The subject you have to be used in poetry is the reader.
A literary text is about a dynamic reality.
