In the fourth part of the ballad the guest is scared of the mariner because he looks like a dead person but still alive. The sailor tells that he passed through a sea where there were lots of dead people. They were looking at him and he tried to say a prayer for them but he couldn't because of a strange whistling that he heard. He remained in that sea for seven days with the dead corpse around him and the only thing that seemed nice was the light of the moon. It shined and gave wonderful colours to the water-snakes which were there. All this made the man happy and he started to preach. The albatross fell from his shoulder and sank in the water.
