"WHY I LIKE THE INTERNET. PROSE AND CONS"

Internet is a net of computers connected each others all over the world. It was made about fifteen years ago and ever since it has been growing and developing. Now almost each family in developed countries has got a computer with networking. In this way Internet has come in all the houses, is used by million of users every day and the number of them become bigger and bigger. It has been invented in order to communicate to a little number of other computers. Now it can do a great  number of functions, like searching some information on a search engine, displaying TV channels, downloading songs or films and playing video games on line. Internet has made everything quick and easy, now you can call everyone by Internet and there are a lot of programmes by which you can chat with everyone in real time. This has allowed   lots of people to meet again old friends or to make friends with new people. The virtual communities are more and more. In that sites you can make friends with almost everyone and you can see everybody's personal information, share thoughts and links, photos and songs... This is with no  doubt a good thing because it allows you to keep in touch with everyone without costs. But there are also cons. In this way you lose the pleasure of speaking directly with people and lets you shelter behind the screen of a computer. The new friendships that you make thanks to these social networks, then, aren't real friendships because you don't know whom you are speaking t at all. Like other new tecnologies Internet  also can make dependence if it is used too much. Lots of people can't give up surfing these sites, but at last they do nothing. One of the other uses of the Internet is the search engine, programs that find each word you write in the millions of other documents which deal with that argument. This allows to find very quickly every information, speeding projects and studies up. But not all information you find is reliable also because everyone can write on a site every kind of information, also intentionally false. Searching news in the Internet breaks you of searching information on books and encyclopaedias. Internet can also be used to do bad deeds like downloading songs, films or programs with copyright. There are lots of programs online which let you download songs and films free. So you avoid the costs of the shop, but this damages all the shops specialized in selling only these things. Last but not least there is the problem of virus. When you surf the net or read some kinds of email you can receive virus, programs which can spoil or stop computers.   I often use the Internet, to study but also to relax. When I study it is very useful to me  because I can find information swiftly, I can clarify something I haven't understood or I don't know. I use it also to do my homework: some teachers want me to do some exercises directly online. It's very useful also because we're going into the "Computers age". I also use the Internet to listen to new songs, to chat with my friends or to see film or programmes I haven't seen before. Surfing the net is without doubt fine and funny but, when I switch the computer off, I always feel as if I haven't done nothing "real". I have spent my time in a virtual world which isn't mine and so like I have tossed my time away. For this reasons I think the Internet has got prose, it has speed all the exchanges up and conveys news in real time, but, like everything, you mustn't abuse it, use it in a wrong way or too much, because it takes you away from reality, which, when you click the "disconnect" key, you have to face.
