Summary

The story is about a girl, Milly, who stopped looking at a pair of boots in a window. They had no price, so she decided to enter the shop and ask to the shop-assistant how much they were. The price was reasonable and  while she was trying a pair on, the shop-assistant noted her stockings: they were made of white lace and very demanded at that time. He wanted to know where Milly had bought her stockings and she answered that they had belonged to her grandmother, who had given them to her as a present.

Discussion

The message of the story is that fashion is a continuous change: old-fashioned clothes become fashionable after some time. That's why you should never throw out your old outmoded clothes, on the contrary you could set a new trend wearing them some years later. What's more, nowadays there are many trends according to many different styles, so you will never have on the "wrong clothe".
