After the quotation by Deridda, the
narrator picks up the matter of the previous paragraph, that is, the concept of
identity and the connection between novel and capitalism. Indeed, according to
Robyn's ideas, the "self" not only  depends on language, but it is a product of
its. The polyptoton production - produce reminds the reader to the capitalistic
system while the expressions "you are what you speak" and "you are what speaks
you" put into focus the power of language and words. Moreover, it seems as if
the quotations were the basis of Robyn's whole way of thinking, the basis of
her "semiotic materialism". The definition stresses her interest in the way
language and communication work and her curiosity and need to go in depth into
things, wondering why and looking for explanations (as her favorite expression
"that is to say" suggests").

The narrator goes on introducing the character through her words.

In particular, she seems to be a really fussy, always paying attention to word-choice
while speaking. Furthermore, the verbs "interject" and "add" give the idea of a
smart person and a leader who is not ashamed of herself and her opinions.

The peculiarity of the character nearly disappears in the following section, in which the narrator explains that
Robyn is almost like all the other human beings: she has got fears, ambitions,
dreams, anxieties and he underlines her involvement in trying to make the world
better, in according with the charisma she showed in the previous paragraphs.

Summing up, right from the extract the reader understands he is in front of a very
interesting character and he becomes curios about how such a person could
behave in everyday life and how her relationship with the other protagonist
could be like.
