ROBYN
IN the extract from the second chapter od the novel “Nice Work”, Robyn, seems to underline the importance fo the language in the culture of the human being. “We produce ourselves in language” the character thinks. She contradicts the claim of the philosopher Feuerbach who said that we are what we eat. She changes this idea in, we are what we speak, focusing the attention on the problem of the different languages and she thinks that people must be aware of it.
This is the most important information, in my opinion, concerning the philosophy in which Robyn believe: she is a teacher of literature and she believe in the importance of her subject.
But, at the same time, her way of thinking doesn’t change her as a woman. She is like anyone else: “she seems to have ordinary human feelings”.
