Obama's speech
Right from
the start Obama tells us that he wants to restore the middle class and its
values. There are two reasons why Obama quotes them at first: the first one is
because the middle class is the majority of the voters; the second one is because
Obama is from the middle class. He continues telling what happened to his
grandparents to remind us the values of the middle class, in this case the
patriotism, in a way that people can understand that he shares these values.
Then he
reminds the people what should the American be proud of: the defeated fascism,
depression, they won wars over wars and became the example to follow from every
nation in the World. In that way, he makes the "silent" promise that he will
make the Americans proud of their nation
once again. He doesn't hold over reminding the how do they achieved these
result: with hard work and equality.
At this
point, he recalls the Americans the last few years, how they were before his
election and how they changed during his term of office, to remind them the
improvement they have had in this short period, to prove them that he can
manage to make America
even better.
After
telling us what he did and proving us, in a very shrewd way, that he can keep
improving America's
lifestyle, he tells us that the Republicans can't do anything, and their
solutions, tax cuts, are stupid and won't work at all.
Then he
keeps telling us what he did for the country, he tells us how the Republican's
solution would have helped the country, that is how he used that solution in
the past four years.
He finish
this part of the speech with a last clarification of his opinion about the tax
cuts and an exhortation, that makes us understand that he said everything that
should have been said about the tax cuts.
