ANALYSIS 2 OBAMA'S SPEECH
In the 4th paragraph Obama focuses his attention on the future of America. He speaks in a clear and honest way, saying the future America is going to face is not easy. He explains the situation basing his speech on truth, in clear antithesis with his opponents who "want your vote, but they don't want you to know their plan". He tells American people his program is based on sincerity, he will not hide any problem during his term, but will act to solve it together with them (repetition of the pronouns "you", "our"). Later on he provides possible solutions (naming the values needed to reach them) and shows his audience to which objectives they will lead. He asks the help of America and expresses his thoughts always comparing them to the other party's program, putting it in a bad light.
In the following paragraph he lists concrete examples of the successes reached during his previous term, in order to make everybody understand he is the right man to lead America. He shows what he has already done and what he is going to, always adding the Romney's opposite vision and its cons. Then he asks his audience to make a choice, between him and Romney, saying only American people have the opportunity to realize the program and objectives he has explained.
He goes on analysing each aspect alone, focusing at first on environment. He speaks about his projects about energy, specifying he will increase green energy. He also specifies his opponent's solutions and their negative aspects regarding economy and wealth. Obama's aim is to preserve earth, showing himself sensitive to environmental problems. Then he speaks about school and tuition. He says they are fundamental values for everyone, providing a personal example. This makes him seem near to American people. He reminds everyone about the problems there were and what he has already done in order to solve them. Moreover he adds his future ideas and the positive consequences they will lead to. Here and in the paragraphs before, he names the problems of America which has developed in the last decades and attributes them to the Republicans' government, who ruled in those years. In this way he discredits Romney and his group and presents himself as the right
solution for America.
