The monk Augustine was a monk sent by Pope Gregory I the Great to bring Christianity back to England. He also was the first monk to go to Canterbury and he became Archbishop of Canterbury.
Alfred the Great was the head of the kingdom of Anglo-Saxons, in ca 879. He dreamt an England with local organization, the construction of towns, the issuing of coinage, the making of English law and the promotion of culture.
Athelstan was Alfred’s son. In 927, he conquered Northumbria, left by his father Alfred the Great.

I think they are made with some metals (helmet), iron (sword) and gold (shield decorations/ gold buckle).
I find them attractive because they are full of details and they have a strange shape.
