The text is taken from a blog of “The Economist” web site in the folder “An A-Z of business quotations”. The blog bears the name of Schumpeter (1883-1950), a famous economist who studied Capitalism, defining it as the "perennial gale of creative destruction".
The first paragraph provides some information about the content of the text and about capitalism, explaining the multiple faces of it and providing some examples. In fact the writer introduces the following quotation underlining its complexity and showing how different people can consider it as “a tragedy” or as a ”cow they can milk”.
As already said the second section is composed by a list of quotations of different famous people, from philosophers to economists, from Al Capone to Xiaoping. The quotations highlight further as the Capitalism is multiform and also as it changed. In fact in the modern society the Capitalism can accord to Communist societies (CHINA), without creating an antithesis.
In this text there are lots of terms that belong to the economic field, (Capitalism, Business, Deal, Value, Free-market, Corrupt, Banknotes, Crisis, Markets) sometimes associated to words of other semantic spheres (farming, for example) with the aid of similes and metaphors
