Just reading the title the writer makes the reader understand in the article Gesù has to be psychoanalyzed, or better what we have about Him, that is to say Scripture. The text is a review of Française Dolto’s I Vangeli alla luce della psicoanalisi.
In the first lines of Massimo Recalcati’ s review the reader is made curious by the phrase “ecco un gioiello!”, it makes the reader understand about the positivity of the review and the writer’s point of view.
Immediately the reader is informed about the writer of the book and her Lacan’s psychoanalysis interest and knowledge. In addition the writer give other pieces of information about F. Dolto: she usually writes in simple way to make her works accessible and she was Christian. Her religious belief is unusual for a psychoanalyst, indeed psychoanalysis father Freud asserted “l’uomo religioso è abbagliato da una illusione narcisistica”, that is to say human beings need to a divine entity to seek refuge from life and its sufferance; but F. Dolto focused her attention on Scripture’s reading, differently from Freud. In particular the psychoanalyst is interest about the desire. Indeed according to her Gesù invites people to accept them because the sin is the will the others adapt to your desires. Massimo Recalcati quotes the parable of the “Good Samaritan”, according to F. Dolto who helps other people without interest of any recompense she/he is “il prossimo”. So the writer changes the catechistic interpretation is usually told us, that is to say “il prossimo” isn’t anymore who receive any help from the “Good Samaritan”. In the article the parable is represents also with a picture. So the reader understands why a psychoanalyst is catholic, indeed in this case the religion isn’t a refuge or something ideal.
Later the article deals with the parable of the “Prodigal Son”, and again F. Dolto offers a psychoanalytical interpretation: the Prodigal Son is the son leaving his father, indeed he accepts the “Legge della Separazione”, that is to say the phase of every adolescent when he/she “becomes adult” and leaves her/his relatives, but the phase is different in females and males, indeed women have to know “the other” (in religious code), according to Lacan’s (but also Jung and Freud) phases of evolutive development.
The article finishes with F. Dolto’s objective: she wants to make people understand religion is not prohibition or refuge and it is an ideal world where death, sex, pain (…) don’t exist because they are part of life experience. So the invitation is to accept all desires to realize God’s project.
The article is organized in 4 paragraphs:
-the first one deals with the presentation of F. Dolto and her book;
-the second one deals with the writer’s religious position;
-the third one is the description of 3 F. Dolto’ interpretation of 3 parables;
-the fourth one is a general conclusion where the writer resumes the content of the review.
The review is positive and invites the reader to buy F. Dolto’s book, because the psychoanalyst is able to conciliate two life aspects which seem not to be compatible one to other.
