The text opens with immediat reference to Grendel so that he reader understands who the monster is and who the protagonist Beowulf is going to fight against. The danger rapresentative by the monster is suggesting by the verb “heard” which comes right at beginning of the line in a alletirative use of the languae. So that it can better understand where events take place. Geat land iis the focus of the setting. Immediatly the intelligent reader understand the narrative strategy of the composer: the narrator wants to highlight the unite quality of the hero that may became such just because he  is ready to risk his life for a good cause: show in generosity and solidarity with they who in danger. Beowulf is created has sort of a single personality not as an ordinary man “no one else” and “like him” make that clear write from the start. In addiction expression like “alive” and “on earth” underline his peculiar stregth and courage suggest in that people different from him could not remain alive. Besides  reinforcing his highly-positive reputation the narrator underlines his feasibility in doing any sorte of duty. He was “the mighest man”. Again the use of alliteration of the sound “m” anticipes other features of this character protagonist who is from a prestigious family (“high-born”) and who has got a power that nobody wants to put into discussion. He was a smart men, able to make the right time. He managed to choose the most suitable boat for the voyage , one “that would ply the waves”.
On the line 6 the verb to ply conveins Beowulf's voyage more easier. He sail without difficulty  the swan's road. The narrator combinates two words to refer to a common objects. This is a particoular use of language called kenning. Swan and road remind to the sea and to the course that Beowulf has decided to follow for help the king, a famous prince. The writer underlines with this expression(“a famous prince”) what give more importance of the king. All people spurred him to go and no elder tried to keep him from going because all people know that Beowulf is the unique person that can help Hygelac. Not even the old men who have more experience than the other people hold him back.Beowulf is considered as the mightiest man on earth. He was admired by his people. As a matter of fact nobody tried to contrast him. Beowulf with other 14 men boarded and he is the captain. The narrator on the lines 15-25 describes the voyage. He use a particoular strategy. He uses the climax to describe every particoular of the voyage. So he created a atmosphere of suspense and hope. The climax concludes with a simile: “she flex like a bird”. The voyage is compared to a flight of the bird because it was fast. This comparation is also on the line 7. The narrator had comparared the sea to the road of a swan.  The boat is considered a bird. Indeed on the line 24 the writer characterize it: “ with the wind behind her and foam at her neck”. The day after the warrior see the land. They has arrived to Heorot, in the northeast Denmark.
