The blog contribution is composed by a title, four paragraphs and an image.

The title “Mario and Silvio” connects the reader ‘s mind to Italian politics, precisely it connects to the two last Italian Prime Ministers: Mario Monti and Silvio Berlusconi. A further reference to Italian politics is the image of Mario Monti on the left part of the contribution, that reinforces the title’s content.

The first paragraph has an introductory function. The paragraph introduces the blog theme. The subject of the paragraph is “Cassandra”, the blog’s director. The name “Cassandra” appeals to Greek mythology. Cassandra was a prophetess cursed from Apollo, so that her predictions would not be believed. So the name chosen makes a clear comparaison between Cassandra and the Prime Minister Mario Monti because his “prophecies” about Italian economy. In the paragraph Cassandra supports her admiration to Mario Monti and tells the reader she does not know Monti’s intentions because of two apparent reasons: Monti’s measured character and the Italian political turmoil.

The second paragraph develops the body of the contribution. The paragraph presents the contribution’s thesis: will Mario Monti be reelected ?, and it also refers to the figure of Monti’s antagonist Silvio Berlusconi. To face the question Cassandra cites “Charlemagne”, a further blog in “The Economist”. In Charlemagne’s opinion Monti’s reelection is contrasted by two main difficulties: the media dominated by Berlusconi and voters’ dislike about Monti’s reformation.

The third paragraph is connected with the second one because it deals with Monti’s intentions and economic reforms. Monti increased the effective retirement age and made pensions fully contributions based to face the problem of the ageing Italian population.

The message about Italian politics elections shows the full doubt about the future prime minister for the reasons I mentioned previously. The ideal reader of the contribution is a person interested in Italian politics, the language contains political and economic technical words.
