Textuality » 4A Interacting
Mario and Silvio
This text is a blog's contribution in "The Economist". It was written
on the 17th January 2013.
The title of the text underlines the main topic of the article: Italian
politics. It deals with Mario Monti and Silvio Berlusconi, they who
are fighting to win the next political elections.
Almost everyday you hear about them because of their political propaganda
through posters, slogans, the media, articles and the Net.
This blog approves of Mario Monti's ideas and projects, but it also draws
attention on one of his political opponents Mr Berlusconi: he who is
not admired by "The Economist". Both people showed us their
projects for the future and during the next elections people who can
vote has to decide the politician that, in their opinion, has the
best ideas.
The layout of the text has a clear structure: the text is arranged into 4
paragraphs and in the middle there is a Mr Monti's image. The image
underlines the importance of the politician for the blog. Indeed the
first paragraph deals with the admiration for Mr Monti; the second
one makes reference to his opponent Mr Berlusconi; the third
paragraph is about economy in political world; in the fourth one the
blog finds a conclusion without talking about and ideal politician
for the nation.
The language of the text is simple. Everyone can easily understand the
meaning of the words, even if he is not interested in economy or does
not know anything about it. So the ideal reader is one, who can vote
in the next elections. I think that the title of the blog "Cassandra"
is connected to politicians because both them are connected to the
future. The reader can understand this from the note at the end of
the text about the mythological figure. The blog concludes the text
without making a propaganda, just because it showed its ideas in
favour of Mr Monti and "The Economist" is read by everyone, even
from people with ideas against him.
