The text is an article from '' Cassandra'' a blog in ''The Economist''.
Before the title the source ( About Cassandra ) is quoted and there is a small explanation of the title:
it informs the reader that there will be quotations also from another blog in '' The Economist '' (The World in 2013) and also, as the intelligent reader can undertstand right from the start , you can see it is a blog that makes predictions about the future too. Indeed it explains why the source is named
'' Cassandra'': it refers to a prophetess of Greek mythology. Later the title makes the reader undertstand that the article will be about Italian politics and the future of Italy because Mario is the name of the prime minister of Italy and Silvio is the name of the previous one.
The article is made up of four paragraphs and there is an image of Mr.Monti : it is used to focus the attention of the reader on the article and also to suggest to reader that the article will be about Italian politics. The first paragraph has an introductory function, where the blogger states his admiration for Mr.Monti and describes him : his role ( memeber if European Commission and prime minister of Italy ), his intention ( he would step down once the Italian parliament passed his budget). But the blogger ends saying he hasn't no clue of his intentions about solution for political problems.
In the second paragraph the blogger focuses the attention of the reader on a question : if there are enough Italians voters who will vote Mr.Monti and make him return to office in elections next month. The blogger tries to answer , listing the possible problem , and quoting another blog ( ''Charlemagne'') that has already expressed same doubts. The first problem for Mr.Monti is Mr.Berlusconi that the blogger quotes in an ironical way ( A certain Silvio Berlusconi... ) and then there is a quotation from '' The World in 2013'' wrote by Mr.Monti.
