Now I'm going to analyse a blog that accompanies "The World in 2013", an almanac of predictions for the year ahead. The blog is written by Cassandra . It makes a reference to the mythological daughter of King Priam (in Greek mythology). The blog deals with Italian politics and we can know it by the title. The title of the magazine (published in the 17th January 2013 by J.A.) is "Mario and Silvio...". It is a simple title with only three words followed by three dots. Thus it leaves a suspense in the reader's mind. Right from the title the intelligent reader understands that the piece is about Italian politics and perhaps about the Italian situation.

The lay out shows the text is made by three paragraphs and an image. Each paragraph has a relevant function because it gives different information. On the contrary the image of the face of Mario Monti draws the attention of the reader, even if it appears a lot of times in Italian newspapers.

The first paragraph is a short introduction of the blog. It wants to personify Cassandra, who admirers Mario Monti both European level and National level. It uses an informal style (I, Chatting).

The second paragraph introduces the thesis of the piece: the writer asks if there are enough Italian voters that want the return of Mario Monti in elections next month. Different argumentations are given in this paragraph. It reminds that the big problem for Mario Monti is Silvio Berlusconi, making two different examples to confirm the point: the domination of the media by Berlusconi and a piece of "The World in 2013" written by Mario Monti himself. Indeed the third paragraph quotes the content of the speech of Mario Monti. He writes something to reassure Italians but the intelligent reader understands that what he said or wrote is very difficult by Italian people. The situation that he described is very different. The last paragraph is a conclusion, saying that the voters will object to having retire later and pay more for their old age. The writer makes the readers that this piece is sensible. The message of the blog is to inform the reader about the Italian politic situation. It wants also to underline the intentions of Mario Monti. Indeed the blog focusses the reader's attention on him.

The language is simple because the piece uses short sentences with simple words. Even if there are "political" words but they can be understand male because they are known by a naïve reader too. In the extract there are different references to another media (for example "New York Time" and "The Economist").

The ideal reader is everybody who wants to know about Italian politics. It is preferable that the reader that the reader is informed with something dealing with Italian politic.
