Up to  5 A - Modernist Fiction: V. Woolf and J. JoyceUp to task document list

1.       1. While I was reading the story I felt confuse. Indeed there isn’t a clear plot and it seems as if there is not a criterion in writing. I had to read it four times to understand something.

2.       2. In the story there is an heron, a big birds, who is flying above an unnamed city and it is seeing what happens in it. There is a list of people’s actions but they are not connected once to the other.

3.       3. I think that the whole story is unusual. First of all there isn’t a plot, so the reader feels confuse and he/she doesn’t understand what is the story about. Then, there isn’t a structure, indeed as I’ve just said it seems as if there isn’t a criterion in the connection of the scenes as well as the dialogues are fragmented, and they don’t explain something. While the narrator is a third person external one and he doesn’t intervene in telling the story.

4.       4. I think V. Woolf’s way of writing depends on her will: she wants to criticize the 20th century style of writing in which the writers describe the reality as it really is.
