Interview to dr.Pamela Baldin(fourth year of specialization in pathology)

•1.      I thought about this profession when i was very young (at primaty school), i thought that doctors are very fashinating people and i said "i want become a doctor when i'll be adult". Then i changed my mind many times but this choice remained in my heart.

•2.      Yes, i had many trubles because the university was hard and long. But i perseverade  and now i think it was the right choice.

•3.      I choosed medicine, i study a lot for the admission test. My friend helped me to study maths, physics and chemisty. For the other topics i studied alone and i performed many exercises.

•4.      I think for this profession is required sense of responsability, psychologica balance, precision, empathy and studing attitude.

•5.      the update is needed and it must be continuous. I think that the study should never end, keep up as much as possible for them to perform the medical profession, partly because the diseases are constantly changing. Every year we have to gain a certain number of credits by partecipating to update courses. We can choose the courses about the topics we prefer.

•6.      In my profession a specialization is needed. I have chose the school of specialization in pathology and now i'm following the residency progrAm in this topic. When i will finish i could follow in paticular the surgical pathology of an organ or system.

•7.      The benefits of this profession are the self-satisfaction, the responsability and the the salary. The disadvantages are stress, the responsabilities.

•8.      You can find a job with this studies, in particular there are different requests in relationship with your specialization. at the moment i italy it isn't so easy for the economical problems of the country. It' easy find a work also in the other european state. If you want to work in other continents like america some adjuntive exams are needed.

1. The advice i can give to someone who intends to start this profession is to choose well because this is a very hard and long professional pathway. I think that some specific attitudes are needed in particular: determination, interest in continuous study, sense of sacrifice and altruism.

1. The greater satisfation is to know that with your diagnosis the patient could have the best treatment. even though we have a wrapped contact with the patient, but we are fundamental in the diagnosis of disease and thus contribute significantly to patient care.

1. A strong personality is important because is very diffucult to stay in contact with people who have very bad deseases. You must be emathethic but not too much affected by suffering or you shouldn' t make the better choice in particulary difficoult situations.
