The essays are 3 different reviews about the new book from R. Cotroneo called Tweet di un discorso amoroso.
The book is made of 76 different fragments of thoughts, status and tweet of different people, for this reason the book has no plot and follows a non-linear development, like a stream of consciousness.
It’s target is to reflect on the sense of interpersonal communication, on the way to approach and to feel love through internet and social networks today.
The title recalls Barthes’ A lover’s discourse fragments as the first review says. But the title is not the only thing in common between the two books: the lover’s discourse is non-linear and fragmented in both, in a different way from the ancient concept of love during previous centuries. But the difference in the books is the way this concept is expressed: Barthes’ one by a traditional oral way, and Cotroneo’s one by tweets and status, that refers to a post-modern world.
The two books can be compared to the dramatic monologue, because again the love discourse is made by a dramatis personae who is, at the same time, one and everyone, because the tweet is made by one unknown person who can be everyone, in who we can recognize ourself.
