Up to  5A - Speeches and LettersUp to task document list
All the quotations proposed are taken from the Italian writer Roberto Crotoneo's Tweet di un discorso amoroso(2013), a 76 fragments - book in which the working of life and love in nowadays era of social networks like Facebook and Twitter is underlined. The quotations amount to five and are the following: "Le regole dell'attrazione le cercano tutti. Ma sono le regole della distrazione quelle più interessanti e non le cerca nessuno"; "Il senso della misura è incommensurabile, in questa modernità"; "Il pudore è un' intermittenza dello stile"; "I ricordi indietreggiano sempre: come fa il tempo quando lo vai a cercare. Poi quando li metti con le spalle al muro sanno raccontarti tutto"; "Ma del pericolo dell'anti-letteratura si è accorto qualcuno? E non è altrettanto grave?".

So, all the quotations seem to share a link, underlined by the semantic field formed by words like "regole", "cercano", "senso", "stile", "cercare", "si è accorto", " incommensurabile", "sanno", "ricordi". According to the previous words, you can easily understand that the link is about knowledge. Indeed the first quotation has the function to highlight that once you own the rules of a determined phenomenon like attraction between people, you are able to control it( and also other human beings' feelings), whereas the rules of the opposite phenomenon are not looked for, probably because they do not imply the ability to control something, and this scares human beings. Going on, the second quotation seems to stand in contrast with the previous one, because its topic is the impossibility of knowledge in nowadays era: the word "incommensurabile" clearly underlines it. Probably, by using the sentence Cotroneo wanted to say that an absolute and universal knowledge of a specific thing is not allowed, because of one of the main features of contemporary society, that is relativism: "Il senso della misura" does not exist, rather "I sensi della misura".

At this point, the third quotation aims to underline the connection between style and knowledge. Indeed the building process of your own style, like your writing one, implies the complete knowledge of the features upon which you are going to construct it, as "pudore". So, this quotation seems to recall the function of knowledge the first quotation has already suggested. Developing the speech, even in the fourth quotation the possibility of knowledge is carried out. But at the price of hardly and honestly seeking it. What's more, the quotation suggests the possibility of a complete knowledge( "raccontarti tutto"), so it stands in contrast with the second quotation.

Finally, the objective of  the last quotation is to put into a better focus the negative effect the lack of knowledge can produce in those affected people. I am inclined to think that with the last quotation Roberto Cotroneo probably refers to the books which are written with the exclusive aim to sell an high number of copies and generate a large profit. Works that probably are very little involved with human beings' life.

Summing up, knowledge is important because it allows you not to be overwhelmed by what other people may state about something.
