ANALYSIS OF THE QUOTATIONS
The first quotation, "Le regole dell'attrazione le cercano tutti. Ma sono le regole della distrazione quelle più importanti e non le cerca nessuno", refers to the human being's attitude to follow the rules of attraction, since it is the less demanding way to live.
But the rules of distraction are the most important ones: people don't look for them, because they are considered less important and more demanding. The quotation highlights the human being's superficiality, since he is just interested in reaching his goals, without paying attention to
his failures and problems.
The second quotation is "il senso della misura è incommensurabile, in questa modernità. Il pudore è un'intermittenza dello stile": it hints at the moral crisis of the Modern Age, when measure became no more reachable to the detriment of the masses.
Moreover, nowadays modesty is considered as something negative, because it interrupts style, it is a limit to it.
The third quotation is "I ricordi indietreggiano sempre, come fa il tempo quando lo vai a cercare. Poi, quando li metti con le spalle al muro, sanno raccontarti tutto": it refers to the human being's unconscious sphere, in particolar to memories. When you face your past, memories come to surface and you can find the answers you were looking for.
Finally, the last quotation is "Ma del pericolo dell'anti-letteratura si è accorto nessuno? Non è
altrettanto grave?": it is one of the most important ones, because it deals with the contemporary danger of literature's death.
It may sound like an invective, since it is composed of direct questions to the reader: anti-literature is very dangerous, because it forbid people to reflect and to better understand the world. If literature dies, the human being's culture becomes weaker.
Summing up, from the point of view of the content the quotations are linked by the key-word "research": life is a continuous process of research, starting from the one of love (1st quotation) and considering the one of memories and the interior dimension (3rd and 4th).
Without research, life is meaningless.
