The Peterloo Massacre

The Peterloo Massacre happened around 1819 year in Manchester. A crowd of men, women and children declared against the government for the revocation of the corn laws and for parliamentary reform. In this clash there were 11 deaths and about 400 people were wounded. The name Peterloo refers to the Battle of Waterloo in which Napoleon was defeated by English political class.

The Corn Laws

The Corn Laws were a series of laws, which were made around the 1815 year in Britain. These laws were imposed to protect corn producers, raising bread prices. The Corn Laws caused the workers' demands to have the higher wages to pay the increased food prices.
