Charles Dickens and Tocqueville have the same idea about the consequences of the industrialization so they give a negative judgment about the cities .The essential difference between the two cities is that Coke town is city born by the fancy of Charles Dickens while A. de Tocqueville describes a real city. Another difference is that Tocqueville describes also the geographical aspect of Manchester while Dickens starts immediately with the description of the city. The two description are similar because the writers have the same aim so both of them underline the effects of the pollution caused by the factories, infect in Coke Town the colour of the red bricks is unnatural because is changed by the smoke and the ash, also the river is red because of the pollution, while Tocqueville shows us how much the river is polluted. The main things the two extracts have in common is that both show how the industrialization changed the society that is only based on the gain and there is the supremacy of the individual on the community infect in both the description is showed how the community work for the profit of only a person.
