Exercise 1.
1. How did the druids differ from the military class?
2. How long did they study?
3. Why did they write in Greek?
4. What was their belief about souls?
5. What did they teach the young?
1. Druids did not participate in war and did not pay tributes like the other people; they have an exemption from military service and had no obligation towards the state.
2. They could stay in school for a maximum of twenty years because of the amount of verses that they had to learn.
3. The texts on the doctrine of the Druids were not written while other texts, whether public or private, were written in Greek. This because they did not want the doctrine spread among the common people, and that memory was not exercised enough.
4. Druids believed that the soul does not end with the body at death but moves into another body. For this reason, men of valour had no reason to be afraid of death.
5. Their teaching young people everything they knew about stars, planets, world, nature of thigs and gods.
