WHY STUDYING ENGLISH ABROAD IS USEFUL

Often people affirm that often studying English in a foreign country, where people speak English is more useful than studying it from books or through linguistic courses. I think that this is true and I agree with this opinion. There are some reasons to support it.

First of all, if you travel and you live in a foreign country, you are constrained to speak or better, to try speaking English. An advantage of studying in another country is that you can listen and therefore learn the pronounce, the behaviour and traditions of that country. In this way you not only study English but also you understand how people live there. On the contrary, if you stay in your own country or if you travel in a non-English country and you speak with people who live in this country in English you are not sure that you are speaking well and correctly English and often you can be misunderstood. Naturally to study English in a foreign country is necessarily to know excellently the basic notions otherwise you are not able to communicate with other people.

However I believe that if you are a shy or introverted person, you can know all the basic notions, words and grammatical rules, but you probably you won't use your knowledge and therefore it will be useless because you won't speak and interact with people.

Another point in favour of the statement of which we are talking about is that in another country you can meet new people and make new friend, I think that this is important because if you are in a foreign country and you know people that live there you can speak and try to apply your English.

If you are entertained from mother-tongue people in a foreign country you can speak with them and know their lifestyle and if they have one, their dialect.

But if you study in a foreign country you must study hard and seriously because if you don't do that you don't learn the language decorously and probably you won't learn more of the things that you already know.

One disadvantage of studying English in a foreign country is that this is very expensive and often people cannot pay it even if a travel of studies is very useful. Moreover, people feel the lack of the own family and for this reason often people don't travel and don't undertake this opportunity even if perhaps they have the possibility to pay and do it.

For the reasons of which I have told before I think and I affirm that studying English abroad is better and more useful than studying it from books and texts.
