-Hi Elena!
-Hi Anna!
-How are you?
-I’m ok, and you?
-I’m fine, where are you going?
-I’m going shopping.
-What are you buying?
-I’m changing the skirt I bought Monday, yesterday I found it was broken!
-Really? How did you notice that?
-I wanted to wear it in a party; I noticed it had a giant hole on the right side only in the middle of the party! You don’t know how much I was imbarrassed! Luckily it was dark, so no one noticed that!
-Oh god! But how didn’t you notice that when you bought it? You said the skirt had a giant hole!
-I don’t know! I had to pay more attention.
-What did you do when you noticed the hole?
-I acted like nothing happened, I didn’t want to leave the party and I didn’t have other clothes, so I tried to appear natural.
-Where did you buy the skirt?
-I bought it at Zuiki, it’s the clothes shop in the mall near the perfume shop; do you know it?
-Yes, I do, but I never went to that shop. How much was the skirt?
-It was 9.95 euros, it was on sale.
-Wow, it was really cheap! Maybe I’ll take a look.
-Be careful or you’ll buy a broken dress, too.
-Don’t worry, I’m eagle-eyed!
-Said the girl who didn’t recognize her mother in the crowd.
-You’re still obsessed with that story! It was a year ago and I didn’t wear glasses yet!
-If you are eagle-eyed, I’m the Chinese empress.
-But China hasn’t got an empress.
-Exactly.
-Ok, let’s stop talking about that! I would like to see Zuiki, can I go with you? Going around in the town alone is so boring and I’ve got nothing to do at home!
-Ok. Let’s go!
23rd February 2014
Hi Mary!
Thanks for your last letter, unluckily it arrived late so I’m writing to you only now. We should stop writing letters and begin writing emails; it’s more boring but it’s faster (my email is anna.depaoli@yahoo.it). I’m going to miss the ink stains made by your brother and your perfect calligraphy.
Finally Easter is coming! You asked me what I’m going to do so... I’m going to tell you.
When is Easter time we don’t do great things, I saw on the net that in England you even do a Easter Egg Hount! I saw a lot of tasty traditional food, too; it looked so good!
We’re going to do like the other celebrations, you know it yet, I told it to you lots of times.
We’re going to go to my granny’s house that will overfill my family with tons of food; luckily she’s going to cook rabbit, so I won’t eat too much; I don’t like rabbit. The rabbit is the only transformation of the menu, the remainder it’s the same. It’s the same lasagna, chips and mushrooms. I’m going to go in my room talking with Cate waiting for the pastries.
Do you know that Cate has got a new boyfriend? Everytime I go dancing they are walking together on the cycling lane, unluckily I didn’t count the days that they were together; it will be for the next time.
Francy has a girlfriend, too. I’m rooting for him! She’s as tall as me, she’s got black hair, a round face and she has always makeup on, she’s a little chubby, too; but she’s funny.
Now I can’t remember how long are the Easter holidays; I think they begin the 17th of April and they finish the 22nd of April, I’m going to tell you when I will know how long they are. I don’t think I’m going to call them “holidays”; I have a bad feeling, I think the teachers will give us tons of homework! I hope it won’t be like this.
And you? What are you going to do on Easter Day? Are you going to do a Easter Egg Hount?
Write me soon,
Anna
-Hi Alessandra!
-Hi Anna! It’s been a long time from the last time I talked to you!
-Yes, from the last time I talked to you is passed a month and twenty days. You went to London the 4th of January.
-You counted the days! You’re crazy!
-You don’t know how much I missed listening to you calling me crazy. How is London? What job do you do? How is your new apartment?
-Keep calm! Ask me one question at a time!
-Ok. How is London?
-London is beautiful, I live in a apartment near Hyde Park it costs 60 euros a night and it’s really near the underground.
-Where do you work?
-I’m an interpreter. I work in a travel agency and I guide Italian and German tourists in London.
-Wow, you guide German tourists, too! You always said to me you hate German!
-I still hate German, but I have to earn money to pay my rent.
-How is the weather? Is it truth that in London it’s always rainy?
-No, it’s false. The weather is various.
-Can you explain yourself better?
-An example, the first week I went here I had a day off, that day it was sunny so I wanted to walk in the city. I walked since I arrived to Convent Garden and after I had to run back at home because it started raining! When I arrived in the apartment I was completely wet, from that day I always take an umbrella with me.
-Do you have some Italian friends with you?
-I asked Linda to come here, too; but she said no.
-And how do you find your coworkers?
-They’re funny, but they only think about working! They can’t relax!
-Ale they’re working! If they work they can’t talk with you.
-Maybe you’re right...
-I’m sorry I have to go, do you want to talk with my mum?
-Yes, I do. Goodbye!
-Bye!
