HOW IS ITALY SEEN IN THE WORLD?

What conclusion one can make after watching the video and reading the two newspaper articles?

The video is full of stereotypes about Italy; it underlines them exaggerating on the country’s bad peculiarities: a combination of scenes taken from ordinary life with images about food, cinema, folkloristic traditions are all accompanied by a typical Italian tarantella in the background.

The first article is from The Guardian, its title is “Matteo Renzi wins Italian senate backing for his coalition government” and it reports current events about our politics in an objective style without speculating or taking position for a party.

The second article is from The New York Times, its title is “New Italian Premier, in First Speech, Outlines Early Priorities for His Tenure” and it’s about Mr. Renzi's first speech in Parliament, often highlighting his youth compared to ordinary politicians.

Both the articles are full of quotations from politicians and political commentators like Marco Damilano and Stefano Manzocchi. Their purposes are mainly informative, because they don’t come forward with judges about the political situation in Italy; more deeply the reader can notice the journalists often underline the radical change which is being materializing in the economic and political situation of the country.

In conclusion, the video gives a negative impression about Italy because of the use of stereotypes and exaggerations, on the other hand the two articles, despite of an informative style which doesn’t  hint any kind of judge, bring to surface the writers’ point of view in an unclear way.
