In the title there is a personification of the New Year and this suggests that the text deals with it in the first person.

It is isolated from the rest to better emphasize its content that is the same of the title.

In the text the new year try to exhort the Life to live the following time whit happiness and the hope of a better future. It presents itself as an unknown time when everything could happen, “an unspoiled page in life’s book of time” . The presentation is emphasized by the anaphoric repetition of “I am” in the first stanza. This also reinforce the personification that underline the importance of the new year: the future life is often lived like the most important part of life, therefore the new year that is the symbol of the future, is so important that is considered alive.

It is also the time when the Life, therefore the people,  could practice  what she have learn in the last year ( in every “new year” people learn something new and in the following year they could use what they know in their life).

In the third stanza the lines “All that you sought” and “with more determination” are put in evidence for exhort the reader to be more determinate when he try to realize his projects.

The core of the following stanza is put on focus and expresses the guarantee that everything the reader desire could happen.

The fifth stanza is characterized by the anaphoric repetition “all that” in contrast with “but” in the first three lines. This symbolizes the dreams not realized in the precedent year.  The others three lines are an exhortation to be stronger for realize all this in the following time.

At the end the new year is presented as the opportunities for who have not try new experiences to follows “Him” that makes new things and do something new.
