Part  A

Considering the quotation, the reader understand Victor Hugo represents Hamlet as a great person. Hamlet is a genius that asks himself questions about life.
In his monologue, one of the greatest scenes of the play, he shows his intelligence and his troubled mind.  He asks himself the question: “to be or not to be”. Everybody wonders about the same question when he/she is involved in problems. To live or to die. People are captured by Hamlet because they can recognise in Hamlet’s character.
He is lost, he is wondering what he has to do. If he has to live or to die by committing suicide. To live signifies that he could face problems and sorrows fighting against them, or that he could survive accepting the “slings and arrows of an outrageous fortune”.  To die is compared with an eternal sleep. Hamlet decides to live because he is coward, he is scared about the unknown of the after death reality. This is the reason why he represents all of us. He has a psychological mind and his problems could be compared to our problems.
When people are lost in a “sea of troubles”, they are like Hamlet. They start to think about life and death and they are scared about death. Death is something unknown and everyone is coward in front of it.
“Hamlet is not a man, he is man”, with this judgement Victor Hugo wants to explain that Hamlet is not a simple man, he represents all human beings.
Hamlet is a genius because he decides to live, not only to survive, but to face his problems.
He wants to appear crazy, because he wants to revenge his father. He prepares all to take revenge.
At the same time, he is a genius but also a coward. He fights against problems, but he is scared about the unknown and this is the reason why he does not commit suicide.
In conclusion I think that Hamlet is a genius because he wants to look crazy only to carry out revenge. He is also the representation of all human beings. Indeed, his troubled mind faces problems that are also nowadays’ problems. Every man could find himself in Hamlet’s situation.
Today, people have to fight against similar problems and no one shows his genius. Everyone in a part of his life asks himself Hamlet’s questions.
