"My Mistress Eyes"
By W. Shakespeare
I can see the sonnet is part of a collection, the poet is Shakespeare.
Considering the layout it follows the pattern of Elisabetian sonnets.
Interesting is to notice that the title has an alliterative sound of "m". Staylistic deviced that Shakespeare employd very well cames his love.
On a first reading I may aspect Shakespeare follows the convention of courtly love poem. The word "eyes" with "ceek" and "lips" were present in courtly love poem. Shakespeare does not see anything beautiful in his mistress.
The reader understands Shakespeare starts an innovative process writing this sonnet. Even if his lady is not like the icon of beauty as it had generally benn rapresented, he considers his mistress a very rare and precious creature. This implies the referents values with with Shakespeare describes his woman changes. Use of hyperbole by means of which Shakespeare paradise the convention of courtly love poem. In the first line He uses an absolute negation; the eyes of the woman generally compared to thae sun are "nothing like the sun".
