Hamlet is considered one of the greatesttragedy together with Macbeth and The Tempest.
"What is mant by tragedy?" A tragedy has generally got a hero, there must be someone who dies for some ideals. He dedicates his life, he has values.
"Why did Shakespeare wrote a lot of tragedy?" He find/drow inspiration from medioeval matter. A tragedy tells a story, it is a narrative form of litterature. When we read poetry it may be also narrative. A tragedy tells about someone that lives for his ideals for the point od death.
In the case of Hamlet the full title of the story is "The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark", Hamlet is the son of a king. Once more/again the contest is the kingdom. Hamlet has a natural father whose name was Hamlet again. The tragedy was written between 1599 and 1602, it is sat in Denmark.
"What is the tragedy about? What is the spring of the taregedy?" Hamlet's father died and Hamlet begin to suspect that he could had benn killed by his uncle now merried with his mother. teh context is developed on differents layer of meaning: (Price -> King -> Ruler of Denmark , Political level), (Son - Father Mother , Family level) and (Adolescent -> the youth generation , Generation level). The second layer opens up to a furthe level: Hamlet is the son and now has a step-father and still a mother. The step-father's name is Claudius. Hamlet finds himself entrapped in a complex situation, he ponders different points of view and finds himself in a contradictional situation: he does not know what to do.
"What problem has Hamlet to face?" The sitation is even more complex: Ophelia, Hamlet's lover and an adolescent, is the doughter of the king Polonius. In Hamlet's life there are two wimens: Gertrude (his mother) and Opelia. Hamlet does not know if Claudius has murdered his father, he is not sure, since when one night he hears the voice of his dead father's ghost talking to him and asking for revenge. Hamlet is scared because he does not know what to do, but the idea of his fatehr's ghost gives him tourment.
