A Word is Dead
The title suggests that the poem is about the life of a word. There is a personification where word is compared to human being. Reading the title the reader may expect that the poem is about the function of the the word.
Layout tells the reader that it is a poem organized in 6 lines arranged into two tercets. It follows that the reader might be interest in finding out the function of single tercet.
In the first tercet the third person narrator says that when somebody speaks and uses words as soon as word is said is dead. In the second tercet the narrative voice changes into first person narrator who expresses a totally different opinion.
