The title convains the word "dead" with the word "word".
The intelligent reader is going to read the poem to find out the common ground, because the title creates curiosity.
Apparently the poem consist in a single stanza, but the intelligent reader can notice the poem is organised into two tercets. In the first tercet there is a third person narrator speaking, instead in the second tercet there is a first person narrator.
The poem is about the life cycle of the word.
In the poem there are two point of view, in the first tercet there is the common people's opinion, in the second tercet there is the first person narrator opinion. This is underline also by an assonance at lines 3-4: some say, I say.
There is the repetition of dental sound "d" (word, dead) at line 1, and the alliteration of sound "s" (some say) at line 3.
