The title
Considering the title the reader can suppose that that the character is a girl, and the the speaking voice know her.
The denotative analysis
The text starts with the description of the girl. The poet describes her with two metaphors. The first metaphor compares the girl to a violet, and the second compares her to Venus. At the end the speaking voice sayes that the girl, whose name is Lucy, is dead, and only after her death he understand that she was important for him.
The structure analysis
In the first stanza and the second stanzas, the poet describes the girl, using also metphors. In the third stanza he expresses the importance of the girl for him.
The connotative analysis
In this text the principally feeling that the reader can find out is the sense of solitude. The reader can understand that the speaker voice was in love with Lucy, and he can't do anything because she died. This poem suggest an other important feeling, that is the regret. It is because she died and he didn't act, losing her. It suggest the important of act and that the lost time can't return.
