Analysis of the poem “A WORD is dead”.
Looking at the title, we wonder about three question:
-Why the poetess speaks about ‘the word’ using the adjective dead, if it is generally used for humans, not for something which has no life?;
-Why did the writer write the word in capital letters?;
-What is this word? What does it refer? What sort of word is it?
Perhaps the poetess might have used capital letters to focus the reader’s attention on ‘the word’, so we can draw the conclusion that she considers the word very important.
Taking into consideration the layout, the reader realizes that the poem consists of two stanzas and makes use of very short words. Each stanza is composed of three lines: they are tercets.
