THE RENAISSANCE
The Renaissance is developed in Italy and later in northern Europe between the fourteenth century and seventeenth century. Renaissance means "rebirth". Indeed the people find a new vision of the world because with the old vision were not able to get the answers they wanted. The humanism was born because the mans had answered to the existential questions not confined to religion. Humanism highlights dignity of humans and their possibilities. Man can study the new values of body thanks to the study of "humanae litterae". In Medieval Age's the vision had religious limits and God was at the centre of all. In Renaissance there was the explosion of the body that it was oppressed in Medieval Ages. Man was at the centre of all. In this Age the people reread the classic literature and they study the Greek culture because it had the values of body and it is able to answer to man's new questions. There was a imitation of classics. People recovered language, genres and models of classic literature. So the vision of the world is subject to a gradually change and man needs of new discoveries and new answers.
In Renaissance there were geographical(America), scientific(Copernico: earth doesn't at the centre of universe) and religious(Martin Luther: The protestant riformation) discoveries.
Also the political had a change. The political's aim is to keep order. In Italy there were territorial city and State and In Northern Europe there were national monarchies.
Among the most important of the continuities with the Classical period was the concept of the Great Chain of Being. Its major premise was that everything in the universe was organized according to a hierarchical order ( inanimate objects, vegetarian class, animals, human beings, angels, God). Each one of these large groups had a other hierarchies. Moreover there was universal interdependence, "correspondences" existed everywhere. According to the chain of being concept there must be a rigid organization of the universe: all existing things have their function and precise place in the universe.
