Textuality » 4ALS Interacting
Nowadays people, especially teenagers and younger ones, assists seldom to theatrical representations due to new ways of entertainment coming and because they often prefer watching movies at the cinema instead of going to the theatre.
The question might be that the audience gradually changed the way to enjoy himself, so these days theatrical plays can be boring and considered old or adapt only to old people. The problem is that especially young people changed his lifestyle and is not interested in going to the theatre: teenagers prefers loud music at the disco, play sports or other different activities.
Another point to discuss is the lack of spare time: many people is quite busy all day long and can dedicate less and less hours to main free time activities like jogging, sport, go out with friends exc., so it’s quite paranormal to think that people spends his few time going to the theatre.
In addition one can’t forget nowadays people in general prefer movies to theatrical plays: films can offer a wide choose between different genres and many of them like action, horror or comedies easily catch the spectator’s attention often making him scared or smiling, while going to the theatre might be more “tiring” and boring. During the Renaissance movies didn’t exist so the only representation people could assist to was the theatrical one.
Furthermore it’s more comfortable to watch a film sitting on the sofa staying at home despite of going to the theatre; besides in big cities theatre might be far from the living place and traffic could waste precious time, which, as the reader know, is less and less during the working week. So it’s clearly obvious people rent or buy or download from the web a movie.
In addition piracy, or hacking, is becoming more common, so that people don’t go to the cinema and waits to download unlawfully the wanted item.
So we can finally say people in the Renaissance saw theatrical representation as something new, while nowadays people consider it old. In the Renaissance promoters encouraged people to reach the theatre with low prices, but in modern times the sits depend on how much you pay and the tickets price is quite high. That’s why audiences in the past were totally different from audiences today.
