Audiences of the Renaissance and audiences today

Theaters today have still a certain interest in people's free-time, but it's no more higher than their success during the Renaissance.

There are multiple causes about why today's people did not have so much interest going to theatres and attend plays.

First of all, modern people had other interests. In the last decades, people had smartphones that play music, videos and films that replaced the interest in theaters.

Cinemas do not help the situation: actual films bring much more interest in people's mind and because it can stimolate them with new ideas and realistic effects, instead of plays where actors could only rely on listener's imagination.

A second argumentation is that, before the creation of theaters, people had to entertain themselves in other ways and the creation of new buildings stimolated people's mind and curiosity, and this made their success at the time.

Another argumentation is that modern people had less free-time caused by work, rythm of the modern society (because everyone's in a hurry) and the new technologies, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and Internet, where a few sites can offer a synthesis or an entire video about specific plays or operas.

Another cause about lower audiencies today is ruled by economic cause: if you have to attend a play, you have to pay a standard tax, but if you have to have a better view or a better position, you have to pay more. Today taxes are influenced by other taxes and by world crysis that signed our period, so modern people can not afford this payment.

These could be possible causes about why today's people did not have so much interest going to theatres and attend plays without having statistics.
