Romeo and Juliet - act II - scene II: analysis.
The scene II of act II narrates the first dialogue between Romeo and Juliet, that takes place in the Capulet's orchard, in the balcony of Juliet. This play is written in language of love, because in Shakespeare's time all the plays has only been written in language of love. Romeo uses metaphors to exalt Juliet's figure. He said she's like the sun and she's like an angel. He's recalls the concept of light, and it's also underlines by words like daylight, brightness, star . In the semantic field of the light Shakespeare express the contrast between the sun, represented by Juliet and the moon.
Romeo considered Juliet as a vision; the intelligent reader can know it by the word "appear". She could enrich the men with her powers. Juliet is illuminated and exalted by the light of the room, so the intelligent reader can suppose that Juliet is considered an angelic figure, so she's in a higher position than Romeo.
